2025 Session Spotlight: Beyond the Floor – Casino Host Ethics

Casino Host Ethics – What Hosts Need to Know

When it comes to managing high-value player relationships, the job of a casino host doesn’t end on the gaming floor. In fact, some of the toughest casino host ethics happen off-property — in those fuzzy gray areas where personal and professional lines blur.

That’s why we’re bringing back one of the most talked-about sessions at the Host Player Development Conference, Beyond the Casino Floor – Ethical Player Engagement.

As moderator Mark Juliano, Senior Marketing Consultant at Delaware North, explains, “This comes up every year. You have to brush off the cobwebs. Review these topics and reinforce them with your team with best practices and guidance,” shares Juliano.

One common scenario? A VIP player invites a host to dinner, a concert, or even their home. “Is the host able to engage in those activities? My answer is ‘yes, but …’ There’s always a ‘but’ with those yeses,” said Juliano. “The expectation I would drive home is that no matter where they are, they are representing the business — and they are representing themselves as well.”

Whether it’s an NFL game or a bottle of wine, hosts must understand their property’s expectations and the ethical lines they cannot cross. This session will unpack the nuances around off-property invitations, gifts, and tips — giving your host team the tools they need to act ethically and with confidence. Reserve your seat!
